Our school’s Multicultural Liaison Officer (MLO) supports newcomer students and families with settlement services, navigating the school system, language interpretation, and more.
The Multicultural Liaison Officer (MLO) program provides support in multiple languages for students and families who are newcomers and refugees. The Multicultural Liaison Officer works with school staff to welcome newcomer families and connect them with important services, resources, and supports within our school and in the local community.
Amal AbdulQader is the Multicultural Liaison Officer at our school. Amal speaks Arabic and English and can also help you access support in other languages.

Bio:
Amal has been with OCISO since 2020. Amal loves helping newcomers navigate their new life in Canada.
Before joining OCISO, Amal worked as a Manager in nonprofit organizations in Yemen and the USA for 9 years. Amal has a Masters Degree in International Development Studies and another Masters Degree in Business Administration.
In her free time, Amal enjoys trying new activities and enjoying outdoor nature. Amal’s approach is “to embrace diversity, collaboration and support.”
